Diu is a small Island, located near the Veraval port. It was earlier a Portuguese colony and now is a beautiful and clean coastal town. Some imprints of the Portuguese such as The Diu Fort, St Paul’s Church, have become the area’s heritage and architecture making Diu popular among the tourists. Gir National Park is the only remaining shelter for the Asiatic Lions, and it is offering a home to various other species. With 411 lions recorded in 2010, different 2375 species of fauna, 38 species of mammals, over 300 species of birds, 37 species of reptiles, and over more than 1000 species of insects, this park plays a crucial role in the preservation and sustaining of a certain species.
